6 tips for summer skin care

Summer skincare requires products that are not so heavy that they don't clog your pores or make your skin oily. The warm weather brings many new challenges for your skin that make you change your routine and make sure you protect it.

Summer is fast approaching, temperatures are rising and we are slowly getting ready for our first sea breaks. And whether that means trips to the beach, soaking up the warm sun, and/or sipping refreshing drinks by the pool, we mustn't forget about our skin.

Warm weather brings many new challenges for your skin that require you to change your routine and make sure it's protected.

1. Make your skin feel light

Dry winter weather requires the use of heavier skincare products designed to protect the skin from environmental irritants such as cold temperatures, wind, and rain.

In summer, skin care products that are not so heavy are needed to avoid clogging pores or causing oily skin. Instead of a thick moisturizer and nourishing cream, lighter moisturizers for the face should be used in summer due to the heat and humidity.

Hyaluron Face Cream is perfect for summer as it absorbs quickly and does not leave greasy patches. It contains hyaluronic acid, which moisturizes the skin and keeps it hydrated.

It also contains MSM, which has a soothing effect on the skin, which is especially important during the summer months as the skin is exposed to many irritants.

We also recommend swapping heavy cleansers for light, foaming cleansers such as MSM Foamer. This will ensure that your face stays clean without stripping it of its natural oils.

2. Make sure your skincare products are not "comedogenic"

As well as making sure your skin feels light, try to use products that are non-comedogenic and are specially formulated to avoid clogging your pores. The hot summer weather can make your skin a little sweaty at the end of the day, which can make it more likely that your pores become clogged.

By using light make-up products that are formulated without pore-clogging ingredients, you can reduce the number of pimples and the chance of severe breakouts. For a summer-friendly regime, check your make-up products and use those that are labeled as light and non-comedogenic.

We recommend that if you struggle with acne, you include BHA acids in your skincare routine.BHA acids are recommended for skin with acne or pimples as they can help to cleanse pores, reduce inflammation and prevent the formation of new pimples.

BHA acids have keratolytic properties, which means they can penetrate the pores and dissolve accumulated oil, dirt, and dead skin cells that can cause acne. BHA acids can also reduce the redness and swelling that occur in inflamed pimples.

3. Make sure you are sufficiently hydrated

Staying hydrated is crucial for the health of your skin, especially during the summer months. Warmer temperatures can make your body sweat more. To protect your skin and help it recover, try to drink at least eight glasses of water every day.

If you hydrate your skin from the inside out, it will look fresh, whatever the season. You can also moisturize your skin from the outside by using hyaluronic acid products, which provide instant and lasting moisture for summer skin.

4. Include vitamin C serum in your skincare routine

Including a vitamin C serum in your summer skincare routine is great for keeping your skin looking healthy. Although vitamin C serum is a great product to use all year round, it is particularly important during the summer months.

Vitamin C serums such as Gaia Naturelle Vitamin C Serum contain active ingredients to fight the sun's harmful rays and protect the skin from damage. Vitamin C serums are essential for a skincare routine for many reasons.

Not only is it a powerful and active antioxidant, but it also fights free radicals, ensures an even skin tone, stimulates collagen production, and protects against sun damage and the increased secretion of the pigment melanin.

In summer, the skin is particularly prone to hyperpigmentation, which is why the use of vitamin C serum is particularly recommended.

5. If possible, stay in the shade

Although the sun feels good on your skin, overexposure to the sun can be very harmful. To protect your skin from harmful UV rays, always wear sun-protective clothing and try to stay in the shade whenever possible.

Although it is not expected to cover up completely, there are several ways to protect your skin effectively and fashionably. Summer umbrellas, wide-brimmed hats, and avoiding direct sunlight by seeking shade are all ways you can protect your skin and prevent premature aging.

6. Use SPF every day!

The most basic rule of a summer skincare routine is to always use sunscreen. By applying SPF cream to your whole body, especially your face, you can protect your skin from ultraviolet rays, which are linked to premature aging and skin cancer.

For optimal sun protection, most SPFs should be reapplied every two hours when you are outdoors. In addition, swimming and sweating can reduce the effectiveness of an SPF, so you will need to reapply earlier than intended.

If you're going to spend the day under the summer sun, be sure to pack an SPF cream such as Hyaluron Face Cream SPF 30 and set an alarm to remind you when to reapply.
